Merry Christmas ^^

Angels we have heard on high, singing "Gloria in Excelsis Deo!"
(Completed on the Note 10.1)

A Mickey & Minnie Christmas! (Completed on the Note II LTE)

Here's wishing everyone a blessed Christmas! May God bless you all in the coming year ahead!

Christmas is a time of all sorts of giving. One "giving" that is most important to me this year is Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for so many things that happened in the past year, especially the 2nd half of it. I give thanks because the Lord, my God is a faithful God who has blessed me with so many loving and caring brothers, sisters and friends around. Their prayers, advice and words of encouragement have been a true blessing to me.

These 2 sketches are dedicated to everyone of them, with ♥!

The Smash

Preparing for the Smash! (Completed on the Note 10.1)

Always wanted to capture the moment when a Shuttler leaps into the air to prepare for a smash. That though of hearing that smashing sound from my own racket is just so nostalgic. Really wished I still have a few more Shuttling buddies.

Had initially planned to do this on the Note II LTE, but I realized that there was a lot of detail I could be missing out. So I borrowed my parents' Note 10.1 to savour the feeling of drawing on the tablet!

Took some inspiration from what I recalled of a friend's drawing that was pretty much similar. Dedicated to the few Badminton students I've had the privilege to teach over the past few years. And also to my cousin, James, who shares my love for Badminton!

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods ドラゴンボールZ 神と神

Vegeta and Goku from the upcoming Dragon Ball Z movie (Completed on the Note II LTE)

Set within the "lost decade" in the Dragon Ball storyline, the highly anticipated 18th movie of the Dragon Ball Z franchise will hit Japanese theatres on 30th March 2013. After 17 years without an official movie, it's about time!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas ^^

Dora Marquez in her very lovely Santa costume (Completed on the NoteII LTE)

Decided to deviate away from manga/anime sketches for this one. Done specially for a friend's birthday.

Also a nice reminder that Christmas is coming soon... =)

モンキー・D・ルフィ Monkey D. Luffy & ロロノア·ゾロ Roronoa Zoro

モンキー・D・ルフィ Monkey D. Luffy & ロロノア·ゾロ Roronoa Zoro
(Completed on the NoteII LTE)

Just received the complete first 14 season of One Piece, meaning I get to have more inspiration for new sketches. But for now, it's still learning from the anime and manga itself. I'm still very early in the series. Don't laugh, because I'm still at the part where they explored Luffy's past when he ate the Gum Gum Fruit as a little kid.

So here are the 1st 2 members of the Straw Hat Pirates: モンキー・D・ルフィ Monkey D. Luffy (The Man who will become Pirate King) and ロロノア·ゾロ Roronoa Zoro (The Great Swordsman a.k.a "Pirate Hunter" Zoro)

The Archangel

Based on HolyAngemon from Digimon Adventure (Completed on the Note 10.1)

Dedicated to my awesome colleagues and wonderful brothers and sisters. Thanks for being there for me when I needed help over the past 5 and a half months. Your advice, help, encouragement and countless prayers have kept me going. And I sure am glad I can finally take a break!

うずまき ナルト Uzumaki Naruto

うずまき ナルト (Uzumaki Naruto) created by 岸本 斉史 Kishimoto Masashi

Took almost an entire week of train rides to complete my very first sketch on the Note II. Quite satisfied with it, except for the hair. It seems I've still got problems in giving my sketches proper hairdos.

I've been truly blown away by how sensitive and how fast the Note II. I can truthfully say that iOS is no match for Jelly Bean in terms of speed and how "buttery" it feels. This is the first time ever that I've honestly felt that an Android device trumps an iOS in smoothness. And the battery is just incredible. I'm actually finding it hard to drain the battery down. The 3100 mAh battery is a real beast!

The Next Big Thing is here!

The power of 1024 pressure points on a 5.5" hybrid! Be Creative, Be Note Worthy, Be Amazed by the speed of this hybrid! Wouldn't classify as an official sketch, just a teaser to what it can do. Honestly though, while the device itself is nothing less than awesome, the Note 10.1 still has the best S Pen out of the 3.

Farewell, my beloved Note (N7000)

My very last sketch on my beloved Galaxy Note (N7000). Inspired again by Digimon Adventure. The 2 young 2nd graders, Takeru and Hikari, from the first anime. The Note is now in my sister's hands and I have full faith she'll take good care of it and enjoy her Note-worthy experience! Time to start sketching on the Note II... Actually not yet... Too much work to chase after =(

The GALAXY Note II LTE is here ♥

My belated birthday gift finally arrived in the afternoon on 2nd November! Resisted the temptation to open it up until the end of the day as I had stacks of work piling up to get through first.

Here it is, out of the box - the smartphone that trumps all others! What a beauty ♥

Behold, the GALAXY Note family ^^

The new addition to the family along with its accompanying accessories which coincidentally came on the same day. Notice the other 2 Notes in the background.

Queue Bruce Wayne's quote when Lucius Fox shows him The Bat. "Oh, now you're just showing off!"

Sorry...

A Very Special Birthday Wish ^^

An amazingly impressive drawing done by a good friend on her own Note 10.1. The most unique birthday wish I got this year and my favourite too! Combined the use of Adobe Photoshop Touch, PicSay Pro and Sketchbook Pro. Wow...!

Halloween Special ^^

Dated: 31st October 2012

Dated: 28th October 2012

Always loved Halloween because my birthday falls on it. With 2 powerhouse sketching devices on hand, I just couldn't resist sketching on them.

The Digimon-inspired one was done on 31st October itself and on the Note 10.1. The other was done on the original Note, completed over the weekend before Halloween. Eventually used it as a "thank you" message to everyone who sent me birthday wishes.

Note (excuse the intended pun) the clear differences between the sketches. The Note 10.1 clearly allows for more well-defined sketches. The 10.1" screen and the 1024 pressure points made my very first sketch on it all the more special! Made me anticipate for the Note II even more...

The Anointing of David!

One of the last few sketches on my GALAXY Note (N7000). Prophet Samuel anoints young David (1st Samuel 16:13)

Dated: 21st October 2012

Note, the new way! With the Note 10.1 ♥

A special gift for Mum and Dad. And they're loving it ♥! The 2nd addition to the GALAXY Note family - the Note 10.1! Glad I'm still getting to sketch and play around with it! The S-Pen on this is just so amazingly awesome ^^

Android 18 vs Vegeta

Perhaps the best I've drawn to date. With as much detail as I could possibly include. Specially drawn for a good friend and colleague, whose more professional artworks meant I had to up the level for this one.

Soar

A little something for my students; to encourage them to always fly high and never give in! A re-creation of my very first eagle sketch from March 2012.

"those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31)

Teach

A simple sketch I did for my colleagues. To thank them for all their help and just to say a proper goodbye ^^

“If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.” (Romans 12:7)

The beginning of WISDOM!

"Fear of the Lord is the beginning of WISDOM, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" - Proverbs 9:10

Completed this sketch on Sunday, 7th October. One of the biggest reminders to everyone that even with all the intelligence in the world, true wisdom starts from the reverence of God!

Studying...

Dedicated to all students everywhere, Primary, Secondary, Polytechnic, ITE, JC and University, Masters or PhD students! Studying may sometimes seem like a chore and I can say that for sure because it really is a huge pain for me. But the wealth of knowledge out there is worth that bit of suffering for now. It hurts to go through it, but it's just an inevitable route that we are privileged enough to go through.

For people going through exams right now (myself included), study hard, give it your best and let Him take care of the rest! Remember to rest well too. SLEEP is extremely important!

May God bless everyone of you ^^

Revision...

For all my students who are busy revising for their SA2s. I feel your pain because I'm going through the exact same thing right now, revising for my own work. Hang in there ^^

Here comes the GALAXYNoteII ^_^

Preparing for the arrival of the GALAXYNoteII! The Everyday Creativity Enhancer that makes more of one's ideas! With enhanced S Pen functionality, this is writing on a mobile device, REDEFINED! Inspiration doesn't wait... So Be Creative and Note, the new way! ^_^ (with the GALAXYNoteII and GALAXYNote10.1)

The Violinist

Happy Birthday Mum! Words are never enough to express my deepest gratitude to my Mum. But this sketch shows just about all I hope to say. Though not a violinist, my Mum's love for music made me love music too. And just as a violinist makes beautiful music from only 4 strings, she makes everything beautiful just because she's good at what she does. My mum loves blue, so I gave this violinist a sky blue dress. While the cross pendant is small, it also means a lot because God is the one keeping her strong and through that, making me strong too.

The Football Player

Officially switching to S Note to prep myself for the GALAXYNoteII, which won't have S Memo. Pity I've only just started to appreciate S Note... The colours are a lot more vibrant and clearer.

Here's "The Football Player", based on one of my own photos but with the ball added in of course.

The Pianist

The first Japanese manga-inspired artwork done on the GALAXYNote! Also marks the first time using S Note to draw rather than the usual S Memo! The most interesting thing about S Note is its Shape Match function, which allowed me to draw the piano keys better. The colours turned up beautifully too, which was a huge bonus :D

Presenting to you - The Pianist!

The Dark Knight

Finally, after 2 weeks of drawing during my train rides home, it still needed some minor touch-ups before it was ready. This sketch was based on HISHE's drawing for their series of hilarious YouTube videos and inspired by Lindy Hemming's amazing re-design of the Bat suit! Made some edits to the Bat insignia and also put the Bat onto his utility belt.

Presenting to you - Chris Nolan's Batman! With a smile :)

Prince Vegeta and Prince Zuko

Back to anime again :D

Had the inspiration to do this when I first drew the Vegeta/Goku Face/Off. Just couldn't bring myself to draw Vegeta for a second time to not anger his fans once again. But since I'm a fan, I'm still entitled my interpretation (I guess...). Further motivation to draw this also came from the news (on 30th July) that a Dragon Ball Z anime movie was to be released on 30th March 2013.

One of my favourite sketches to date because I managed to put in a bit of layering colours for Zuko. Had intended to do the same for Vegeta but I figured that giving him a whole shade of black hair made him look better.

All there is to say about these 2 characters are in the sketch above. Amazing similarities between the 2.

Morale booster for my students during their Common Test 2

To all my students who are still in the midst of your Common Test 2: don't be like Dory, memorizing P.Sherman 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney for the sake of it. Know exactly what you're studying and understand how to apply the concepts you've learnt first. This way, things will make sense a lot more. All the best to your last few papers!

P.S: Dory's rote memorization did eventually save Nemo, but it needed the undying spirit of Marlin who never gave up on his quest to find his son back. In other words, memorization does help, but you need to justify why you're doing it. Learn because it helps you build your character and your soft skills. Not because you want to get better results. School is never just about the hard skills.

Happy Birthday 妹!

Had to do this beforehand because the weekend was reserved for my mentor's wedding day on 11th and dinner the next day (as promised many many months ago). Editing his "Express" video was perhaps the most challenging one, cos I was his best man and not the one doing the videoing...

Still wouldn't have been a valid excuse to forget my little sister's birthday though. Took this from Toy Story 2 but it certainly looked like their eyes were pretty badly drawn.

Happy National Day!

Loving Singapore Our Home! Made some minor edits to the original to incorporate the I ♥ SG onto the Singapore Flyer. And also to include the impressive I ♥ SG balloons done by the students at MSHS.

Happy 47th National Day!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Some of the many icons which identify Singapore and define us as a nation. Happy 47th Birthday, Singapore :)

Gundam Seed Destiny

Back with the anime fever ^_^

Had always been intrigued by the brilliant detail put into all Gundam characters, despite not being a Gundam fan. Took me 2 weeks to complete this as I didn't have time to work on it other than on train rides home from work.

Happy Birthday Philo (2)

Drawn by Sophia (Philo's elder sister), after I convinced her of how amazing the GALAXYNote is! It took her less than 10 minutes to complete this sketch! Now that is what I call artistic genius!

Dear Samsung, please give her a GALAXYNote. She'll be happily promoting how awesome your revolutionary GALAXYNote is everywhere she goes! (Because that's her profession ^_^)

Happy Birthday Philo!

Done specially for my cousin, Philo. Had to resist posting it until his birthday.

Coming Soon: London 2012 Olympics

This is Mandeville, one of the mascots for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Inspired by the Stoke Mandeville Games meant for injured soldiers. Guess there's no reason why the rest of us healthier and stronger people shouldn't be giving our best in all we do!

Piglet and Pooh

Made some edits to my original drawing (dated 13th May 2012) to incorporate a matching butterfly. Drawn for my mentor's fiancee who's a big Piglet fan, after she saw my Tigger sketch.

Tigger ♥

Drawn on the ferry journey from Harbourfront Center to Batam for PPCFC's 家庭营! Perhaps one of the fastest sketches I've done since I picked up the GALAXYNote! Definitely helped by the fact that Tigger only has 4 main shades of colour!

The Dancing Dragon!

I must admit that this isn't the best drawings of Prince Zuko, but you get the idea... Going back to the roots of fire-bending - dragons! (From Nickelodeon's Aang: The Last Airbender)

BBC One's Sherlock

BBC's Sherlock - a modern take on the legendary sleuth, Sherlock Holmes. An ingenious production by the BBC! Looking forward to Season 3 ^_^

Ice Cream Sandwich comes on board ^^

Still having the Anime fever... Decided to go even further "back in time". Inspired to draw this after listening to the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra play the theme of everyone's favourite gadget cat: 小叮当! Doraemon was created by Fujiko Fujio as a Japanese manga series before evolving into an anime series. Should be a little chubbier than how it was drawn here. Completed with the newly upgraded S Memo on the GALAXYNote running Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich ^^

Face/Off: Goku/Vegeta

Apologies to fans of Vegeta and Goku and to Akira Toriyama, the creator of the amazing Dragon Ball Z, for over-simplifying the 2 Super-Saiyans. It was heart-warming to draw this and reminisce the times when I'd wake up every weekend morning to watch Dragon Ball Z on Channel 8 ^^

Anime Time: Gatomon and Shinn Asuka

Time to take some inspiration from Anime characters. Gatomon is Hikari's companion Digimon from the Digimon Adventures series. Obviously lacking her tail ring here. Initially planned to draw it in but couldn't put it in without the important inscriptions on it so I left it out.

Shinn Asuka usually looks more serious but I decided to put a smile to his face :) If Wikipedia doesn't fail me, he made his first appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. Had to "wiki" this because I was never a big Gundam fan. I was always more old school... Perhaps I should give Dragon Ball Z a try the next time round! That'd be fun :D
